[edit] OverviewThis record is for Alexander Huston who married Elizabeth Hassle in 1745 at Christ Church in Philadelphia. Indications are that he was a businessman who lived in Philadelphia. Alexander and Elizabeth had at least two children, both of whom died by 1751.
other children:
Perhaps their early deaths of these children prompted Alexander and Elizabeth to move out of the city. In any case, on July 13, 1753, Alexander purchased a plantation in Northern Liberties for 635 pounds. [1] According to Roach, Moak and Roach, 2001 Alexander and Elizbeth spent part of the year at this location, but continued to own property in Philadelphia proper. Neither Alexander nor Elizabeth appear in the 1790 census of Philadelphia (including the surrounding Philadelphia County, and it is presumed that they have died by this date. Tax records for an Elizabeth Huston, widow, show that she owned property in Philadelphia and elsewhere in the county in 1782. It seems likely that she was the widow of Alexander who has predeased her. [edit] NotesPhiladelphia Wills This looks to be the will for Ann Hasell, mother of Elizabeth (wife of Alexander Huston).
