Facts and Events
[edit] About Alexander AllisonAlexander ALLISON was born about 1740 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. (86) He died on 11 Jun 1814 in York County, South Carolina. (86) He was buried in Beersheba Presbyterian Cemetery near Sharon, South Carolina.(86) He decided in 1775 that things were getting too hot in Maryland and moved south. But it was like a fish jumping out of the frying pan into the fire, for shortly after reaching Rowan County, North Carolina, the English Governor tried to force the men to sign a Royalty Oath. Alexander would not do that but rather chose to sign the Patriot's Test on February 6, 1776. Shortly afterwards he moved to York County, South Carolina, settling on Allison's Creek and soon joined the Patriots Army. It is doubtful that Alexander participated in the fierce battle of Kings Mt, but it is possible. The battle was about 12 miles away, so it was within ear-shot of the Allison home. His family drove over the next day and saw the body of Col. Ferguson, the English Commander, as it lay in state under an Oak tree. Alexander was in the army for several years, after the war, he returned to the farm.
