1st arrived in the United States in 1847 and ran a candy store in Philadelphia. (according to - "A Traveler's Guie to Pioneer Jewish Cemeteries of the Pioneer Gold Rush" page 70 - 71)
In a family history written by Edgar K. Marcuse, Abraham Marcuse is noted as being called Abraham ben Marcuse.  After Jeanette's death Abraham moved back to New York to live with daughter Marianna who had married Samuel Stroock and lived at 156 East 80th Street in New York.  Notes on death and burial where also taken from the same family history and are being used as a guide to try and find more 'hard' source information.

According to "Forigen-Born Voters of California in 1872" Abraham's voter record number was 35061 and he registered to vote in 1870. In 1872 he was a registered voter in Sutter, California.
