Earliest known ancestor: Abner Willis, born before 1755, died about January 1805 in Cumberland County, PA. Also looking for information on Willis family in Lancaster County, PA, especially connections to William Willis who settled near Lancastr town c. 1717, who I believe are connected to Abner. Abner and one of his sons, James (my ancestor), were blacksmiths. Abner's wife is Margery LNU. Other surnames: Bridges, Koons, Oyster, Kiesecker, Crawford, Crull, Meredith, mostly in PA, a few in MD.Willis Research Center

Promissory Note from Abner and Alexander Willis. [May 11, 1807] We promise to pay to Henry Clay one hundred and fifty dollars as follows: One horse or mare at the price of one hundred dollars Cash to be delivered to said Clay in two months from this date at his farm and fifty dollars in money.
