Was Ann Yarborough the mother or step-mother of John and Henry?

Mrs. Bert Harter follows Reuben T. Durrett in identifying the likely children of William Durrett as the children of Ann Yarborough, without seeming to question the chronology[1]. This might be because the birth dates of Ann's children by William Higgins are largely unknown. However, John and Henry were likely born by 1724 (seemingly not minors in 1745, and both married by 1748), and if Ann's children by William Higgins were born as late as 1756 or later (as usually claimed), she was likely born no later than than 1708. This makes it (barely) possible that she was the mother of John and Henry Durrett, but not probable, especially given the lack of known Durrett children born between the 1720's and 1745.

'William Durrett ... married Ann Yarborough who survived him.' Evidence is presented for the identity of William's wife, and for the fact that she subsequently married William Higgins.

'There is no surviving record of any minor children. Col. Reuben T. Durrett noted John and Henry as children of William and Ann and there is much evidence (but not documentary proof) that this is correct.'
