News Item GOLDEN WEDDING IS CELEBRATED -- Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Corl Enjoy Family Reunion On Anniversary New Year's day, which was ushered in by so many happy events in Riverside, blessed in a beautiful manner the golden wedding day of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Corl of Long Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Corl for many years were residents of Riverside, and returned to their old home that they might here celebrate the fiftieth year of their married life. The occasion was honored by a family reunion and dinner at the home of their daughter and son, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Bass on Indiana avenue. In the dining room the decorations were all carried out in yellow and white, and the center of the long table was graced with a large silver basket filled with California fruits and nuts. The favors found at each place were tripods of yellow and white striped candy tied with yellow and white ribbons on which were printed the date, 1863 and 1913. The bright color scheme was further carried out by the cleverly arranged orange cups for the salad course. The living room was radiant in its profusion of bride's roses effectively arranged with asparagus fern, and here the afternoon was most happily passed with the singing of old songs and social intercourse. Those enjoying the family gathering were the bride and groom of 50 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Corl, Mr. C.B. Corl and children, Mildred and Harold, of Los Angeles, Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Corl of Pomona, Mr. and Mrs. R.S. Corl, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Bass and daughter Ethel of Riverside. Source: Riverside Daily Press, Friday, January 3, 1913, pg 7. Image Gallery
