Children
The baptisms of the three children were found in the Session minute-book for Southwick church on a visit to the Scottish Record Office in Edinburgh about 1990. For years of availability of baptisms and marriages for this parish, see the Colvend and Southwick page. This marriage may be a second marriage for Person:John Gibson (108) previously married to Janet or Jean Brown (banns and marriage June 1752). John Gibson and Margaret Herries were an older couple and she would have been 45 in 1778 when their son John was born. They appear on the same gravestone (Stone 33) in Southwick Graveyard along with the first wife of their son, John. John, b 1778, is found on an adjacent stone with his second wife and two of their children. There were no marriages recorded in Colvend and Southwick during this time. |
