Children
[edit] ResidenceThis family lived in Myar House (later spelled "Mire House"), a house just 0.3 miles south of St. Helen's church in Whitley Chapel, near Hexham. In the Hexham parish register, John Chatt christened 10 children between 1698 and 1717, and in all but the first entry, he is identified as "of Myar House" or "do Myar House". (It is interesting that in the register, some people are identified by domicile while others are identified by profession.) The family likely lived there their entire lives, as their son John was still living there when he christened his first two children in 1755-1757. [edit] Evidence for MatchIs John Chatt of Myar House who baptized 10 children between 1698-1717 the same John Chatt who married Alice Cartington? A search for marriage records in familysearch.org indices (as of Aug 2016) for John Chatt in Northumberland between 1670-1698 turns up only one match, which is the marriage of John Chatt and Alice Cartington. That record is in the Hexham parish register, the same parish where John Chatt of Myar House baptized his children. That John Chatt is identified as living in Dotland, which is only 1.5 miles north of Myar House. And the 1697 date of marriage is perfectly timed to inaugurate a string of children from 1698-1717. So this looks like a strong match. References
