Personal data tables are provided for each person examined in the Southwest Virginia Project. These tables are designed to present "vita" for the individual, plus commentary. Much of the data is initially captured from online sources, and used as the basis for exploring the history of the individual. A process of data Verification and Validation is used to determine the accuracy of the data. A major objective is to back up the vita data with underlying primary or original sources. As they are obtained, such sources are placed in the commentary section, along with any discussion needed by way of interpretative explanation. In cases where no commentary is shown, the presumption is that the vita are accepted only provisionally, pending the identification of the underlying sources. As a rule, Ephemeral Sources, such personal web pages, or on line genealogies, are not cited since their long term persistence can not be relied upon during the verification process.
