Next step: Review your GEDCOM [2 September 2013]

You're not done yet!

WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.

Now that you have uploaded Gormley-Worden Tree.GED, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing. We will keep your GEDCOM in the queue for two weeks to give you time to review it.

Note: if your gedcom contains many errors or multiple families, we’d ask that you resolve and correct the errors, delete this gedcom and re-submit it without the errors before merging it with families already on WeRelate. If the gedcom is very large, we’d suggest breaking it up into separate files (or families) and importing them one at a time, which makes the review and correction process easier.

Click here to review your GEDCOM

Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.

Jonathan Holmes and Sarah Seeley [4 September 2013]

Is there source information for the date and place of death of Jonathan Holmes (9) and for the place and exact date of birth of Sarah Seeley (9) [changes introduced by your recent gedcom upload]? I had done a literature search late last week and did not come up with that data. Other than that, welcome!--jaques1724 11:59, 3 September 2013 (EDT)

Hi Jacques,

I got this information in early 2010. My main/base research site at that time was the old LDS genealogy pages, before they created familysearch.org. From there I used the internet to try to cross check it with any information I could find. I did a lot of googling, and I used MyHeritage and RootsWeb, among others to try to find agreeing or disagreeing information. I've only just returned to working on my Family Tree and so cannot be more specific than that.--uroboros 13:17, 3 September 2013 (EDT)

Like I said below, these things are not sources. We really need more caution on older lines, especially where several of us have put alot into removing unproven/unsubstantiated information. Daniel Maxwell 19:24, 4 September 2013 (EDT)

Wife of Kenelm Winslow [4 September 2013]

You are adding unsubstansiated information to the page of Family:Kenelm Winslow and Unknown (1), which I have reverted back. Kenelm Winslow's wife is unknown, and the source on the page clearly states that. You say to Jaques: " From there I used the internet to try to cross check it with any information I could find. I did a lot of googling, and I used MyHeritage and RootsWeb, among others to try to find agreeing or disagreeing information. " - none of these things are sources. They are online guesses. Here at WR, especially with older and important lines like Winslow, we require that people exersize alot more caution than just adding what they find on the internet. I know you are new, so I can understand you perhaps are not aware of how we work here. Daniel Maxwell 19:13, 4 September 2013 (EDT)

I've been looking at edits as part of Recent Changes admin review. I noticed that your recent gedcom import(s) have a lot of families with (2) in the name, and after checking and merging a couple, realized these are internal duplicates in the pages you have uploaded. Please go to My Relate in the top menu to Show Duplicates and merge your own duplicates by following the instructions there. In the future, please merge duplicates before finalizing the import of your gedcom (there is a tab for merging into existing families). Thanks.--Amelia 01:28, 5 September 2013 (EDT)

1 week block [5 September 2013]

You have been blocked for one week for this little edit of yours:

In the future, watch the potty mouth, because one more and you will be permanently banned. Cursing at admins over a dispute simply because you don't understand the site policy is not how to behave here.--Daniel Maxwell 07:54, 5 September 2013 (EDT)
