Living People [3 February 2013]

Hello and welcome! One of the volunteer tasks here is to monitor new page and changes. I was looking through recent changes this morning and noticed that you seem to be working in the pretty recent past, and have posted people born in the last 100 years or so without death dates. Please note that Living people are not permitted on WeRelate. If any of the pages you have created are about living people, you can delete them by using "more -> delete" under the left-hand menu. Alternatively, please add death dates where you can. Thanks!--Amelia 09:56, 3 February 2013 (EST)

Correcting reverted data [27 June 2020]

Hi

I noticed that you reverted some of the changes I made this morning, based on a family record. I wanted to let you know that I will be correcting the data again, as the family's account is not 100% accurate (which happens). "Sue Goss" was actually Mary E Simmons (Goss being her married name), as identified in the Social Security Applications and Claims Index record for her daughter Ella. I will add this source - it was attached to the Ancestry Public Tree I cited for Mary Etta Simmons, but I realize you might not have a subscription that will allow you to see that. I'll add a number of sources to establish the correct information - please be patient while I do so.

Note: I am fairly certain that Ella Mae Brock was not Mary/Susie's child by her first husband. In the 1910 census, Mary E Goss (a boarder in the household of Mack and Lou Simmons) was already widowed, with 2 children: Bertha and John. Ella was born 5 years later. Also, her Social Security record gives John Brock as her father (which could be incorrect, but in this case appears to be correct).--DataAnalyst 19:48, 27 June 2020 (UTC)

Hi, again.
I finished updating the records. I decided to make Susie the primary name for Mary Etta Simmons because she was buried under the name Susie, even though I would guess that her legal name was Mary. Normally, WeRelate protocol is that the legal name is the primary name, but in this case, she was so commonly known as Susie that it might be confusing to use Mary Etta as the primary name. I also found the dates for her first husband (1881-1907) which rule out Ella as being his daughter. It is correct that Susie had 2 children by him, but they were Johnny and Bertha (who died in 1920).--DataAnalyst 22:08, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
