Now that you have uploaded Frederiksen.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing. We will keep your GEDCOM in the queue for two weeks to give you time to review it.

Note: if your gedcom contains many errors or multiple families, we’d ask that you resolve and correct the errors, delete this gedcom and re-submit it without the errors before merging it with families already on WeRelate. If the gedcom is very large, we’d suggest breaking it up into separate files (or families) and importing them one at a time, which makes the review and correction process easier.

Gedcom Upload [5 July 2013]

Hello, In reviewing your GEDCOM, I see many errors reported under the warnings tab. Please go through these items and clear up where you can. I understand sometimes spouses have the same last name because we don't know the wife's last name. Also sometimes children are born to older couples. However, there are a lot of these in the file. ‎Frederiksens familie.GED [17 July 2013]

I have reviewed your gedcom and see some problems that must be fixed. Your gedcom contains some duplicate families. We will not be able to use this file in its current condition unfortunately. We recommend that you use the Warning tab as a work list and fix the problems in your personal database, either by correcting the information or removing it. Not all warnings represent real problems, but most do. Once you've corrected the problems, remove this gedcom (click "Remove this GEDCOM" from the Overview tab), and upload a new one.

Please review the videos and tutorials and get familiar with WeRelate. WeRelate is not just a collection of user files like most gedcom sites. WeRelate is a single, shared database with a single web page created for each person and each family. As a courtesy to other users, we request that problems be fixed prior to importing your file.

After correcting problems and uploading a new gedcom, the next step is to review potential matches between people in your gedcom and existing pages on WeRelate. If a person in your gedcom already has a page in WeRelate, you must match them. We ask that you use caution and review the existing page before making changes to it. Some pages have been worked on extensively by WeRelate users. Others, quite frankly, are a mess because of earlier gedcoms dumped into the database. You are encouraged to help clean these up, but we ask that you include sources for your data.

Frederiksen.ged Imported Successfully [18 August 2013]

The pages from your GEDCOM have been generated successfully. You may now:

• launch the Family Tree Explorer to navigate your tree
• view your network -- If you matched families in your GEDCOM to existing families, find out to which other WeRelate users you are related.
• view related pages not in your tree -- If you matched families in your GEDCOM to existing families, find out which people you are now related to that you can add to your tree (takes awhile to display for large trees).
• view a searchable list of the pages in your tree -- The searchable list will be available about an hour after your tree has been imported.

Invitation to Discussions on Norwegian Data Entry Standards [11 December 2013]

As a recent contributor of Norwegian ancestry to WeRelate, I invite you to participate in two discussions. One is to set a convention for entering Norwegian names (see topic 8.2 Norwegian Names on WeRelate). The other is to set a standard for Norwegian place names.
