Hello Peter,

I hope you will enjoy exploring Werelate. I hope that you will find it useful as well. I find this Wiki so much easier than a traditional web page for me since I am not as knowledgeable on websites as you are.

I am just beginning to research this side of the family, so I do not have many sources yet. Hopefully in time I will locate more sources.

I have added this note (see below) as well as the link to your web page to Mary Swain's person page, Thomas Chatterton & Mary Swain's family page, and to Mary Swaine's parents family page.

Note added: "My Thanks to fellow Swaine researcher Peter Swaine for this website, and his willingness to share his research. It is possible this is the same person, and her ancestors. A great deal of work is still needed to confirm this is the same person though."

Swaine new information - User DFree [31 August 2009]

Hello Peter,

How are you? Hope all is well. I have just come across some new Swaine family information in the article "Inscriptions in Rye Church" in the "Sussex Archaeological Collections, etc" vol 13 page 286 on Goggle Books website. I would like to post it on WeRelate. Since we share these ancestors I wanted to know if you wanted me to post it separately, or would you be OK with me adding this latest information to the ancestors person pages you have already uploaded in your GEDCOM?

Edward Swaine, for 35 yrs Mayor's Sargent of Rye (not a clue what that means), D 1772, wife Mary Swaine D 1773, children Martha Swaine, Elizabeth Swaine, John Swaine, John Swaine's wives, Ann and Mary. Martha's husband Henry Waterman.

hi you do not know me but we are destantly related.I was born a Chatterton like Dfree we are desants of Thomas Chatterton & mary Ann Swaine.I am GGGGrand daughter of Henry Delives Chatterton.I have sone info on the Swaine Family when the Swaine's & Chatterton & some other family rebiulet Rye,Sussex.My aunt & uncle wentto Rye about 10 years ago & got some info on the family from a Aruther Chaterton,I have a Copy of the Chatterton Family tree.
