Bug in gedcom import fixed [26 November 2011]

We noticed a bug in our system that caused people in your gedcom file to incorrectly be marked "early". The bug has since been fixed. I was about to import your gedcom, but I notice that in the meantime you have deleted the tree that you were going to import the gedcom into. If you would like me to import your gedcom, let me know by replying here. I'll be watching your page.--Dallan 21:35, 25 November 2011 (EST)

i would like to have all th help here i can get thank you. i cant seem to work out how this works at all.--Netty 21:37, 25 November 2011 (EST)

Ok, your gedcom has been imported. Click on "Contributions" in the MyRelate menu to see the pages that were created.

Just a couple of notes about place pages:

  • You shouldn't create Place pages for hospitals. It's our policy to create Place pages only for political jurisdictions like cities, counties, districts, provinces, countries, etc.
  • When you create Place pages, you should use full place names, and commas between the levels. For example, instead of "Stockton Nsw Australia", the title of the Place page should be "Stockton, New South Wales, Australia".

Let me know if you have any questions.--Dallan 22:49, 25 November 2011 (EST)

Living people [30 November 2011]

Hello Netty, I am a volunteer admin here at WeRelate. I noticed that you have person/family pages for people who may be living (for example this family). Please note that WeRelate does not allow pages for living people due to privacy concerns. Please delete your Person and Family pages for living people by clicking on More>Delete from the menu on the left. You may use templates such as Template:Pedigree3 to connect family lines using a chart on your User page. If you have any questions, just let me know. --Jennifer (JBS66) 06:02, 26 November 2011 (EST)

so, do all "living" people need to be removed?--Netty 01:49, 30 November 2011 (EST)

Hi Netty, yes, all people who are still living would need to be deleted. Their Person pages as well as the Family pages they are connected to should be deleted (not just their names removed). When a gedcom is imported, it determines who the living people are and excludes them from upload. Sometimes, it may not catch them all if the gedcom was missing birth dates.
If you have any questions about how to delete the pages, just let me know. --Jennifer (JBS66) 06:08, 30 November 2011 (EST)

ok.. well i think i have removed them all. thank you--Netty 09:23, 30 November 2011 (EST)

You are welcome. There were a number of pages that you had removed names from this morning, I assume because they are living. Those pages will need to be deleted as well, in addition to any family pages they are a spouse of. --Jennifer (JBS66) 09:30, 30 November 2011 (EST)
