John Keyes [10 January 2012]

Hello Dona,

I am not sure which John Keyes page you are looking at. At the moment I have discovered no Keyes ancestry but I have friends of that surname. I have access to a great deal of MA and RI source material so from time to time I add data for families unrelated to me in order to help make WeRelate the best place on the web to find sourced family lineages. By all means add any relevant information that you have about your ancestors and the sources to back up the assertions. Regards, --Susan Irish 21:54, 30 December 2011 (EST)

Donna, when you are on a person page there is a list of links on the left side. One of these links says "History" clicking on "History" shows you all of the edits that have been made to that page in time order. At the bottom will be the name of the user who created the page. If the name is accompanied by "GEDCOM upload" and a date of 2009 or earlier probably that user is no longer active on werelate. Should that user come back later and decide to delete his/her GEDCOM file the page will disappear unless someone else is also "watching" that page. So when I find material that applies to a person or family page on werelate, I add this information and become a "Watcher" so that the page will not go away if the original GEDCOM is deleted.
By the way, I have never uploaded a GEDCOM preferring to enter names and information by hand so that the pages will always remain on WeRelate. --Susan Irish 19:08, 9 January 2012 (EST)
