Next step: Review your GEDCOM [3 April 2010]

You're not done yet!

WeRelate is different from most family tree websites. By contributing to WeRelate you are helping to create Pando for genealogy, a free, unified family tree that combines the best information from all contributors.

Now that you have uploaded David.ged, your next step is to review what your pages will look like, review any potential warnings, and combine (merge) people in your GEDCOM with matching people already on WeRelate. You need to review your GEDCOM before it can finish importing.

Click here to review your GEDCOM

Once you have finished your review and marked your GEDCOM Ready to import, one of our administrators will review your GEDCOM and finalize the import. This usually happens within 24 hours. You will receive a message here when the pages have been created.

Just saying hello [6 April 2010]

Hi David,

I saw you had made some changes to a couple of my pages. Thank you for contributing. I didn't have a chance to look at your tree yet (at work at the moment), but I thought I would send a message to you just to say hello. Is the Rabb surname your tie with the McMorris surname?

Hope to hear from you.

Hi Aaron,

Anne McMorries (1763-1822) is the great-grandmother of Charles Kincaid Rabb (1860-1917) who is my great-grandfather.

Nice to meet you.

Asterisk's in name field [6 April 2010]

Hello, I am one of the Administrator's on WeRelate. I noticed in a recently loaded gedcom that there is an asterisk (*) in the name field of several persons, including Catherine Howard. We'd ask in the future that only letters be added in a person's name field, as they are not supported, and could cause problems in merging persons when possible duplicate families and/or persons are found in the future. Thanks and best regards, Jim.--Delijim 12:10, 6 April 2010 (EDT)

Error importing David.ged [7 April 2010]

We had an error while attempting to import your GEDCOM. This is most likely our fault. We will review the error and should have your pages ready tomorrow (or Monday if tomorrow falls on a weekend). There is no need to re-import your GEDCOM file.

Wife of Thomas McCullough [10 April 2010]

Hello, I noticed that you've added an alternate wife and child to this family:

Thomas McCullough and Mary Turk. Do you have any sources for the identity of this alternate wife? The source for Mary Turk as his wife is from "Turks of Virginia", by Edna Barney. Since Mary Turk died before 1808, she could not have been the mother of the William McCullough (b. 1821) that you added to this family. It appears that this should have been added as a different marriage of Thomas McCullough, but I'd be interested in your sources for this additional marriage.

Thanks, would appreciate a response.

My wife did the research on this. I will check with her tomorrow. The data sheet lists both Thomas and Mary Elizabeth as having been buried at Wateree Presbyterian Church (Mt. Olivet) near Winnsboro S.C. It also states that Thomas helped to build the church.--Davidlyonwilson 00:13, 9 April 2010 (EDT)

My wife could not locate her sources on Thomas and Mary Elizabeth. I found some of the information in Mount Olivet Presbyterian Church Cemetery With Some Annotations: http://files.usgwarchives.org/sc/fairfield/cemeteries/mtolivet.txt In any event, this does not appear to be the same Thomas McCullough, so I removed the extra wife and children.--davidlyonwilson 23:01, 9 April 2010 (EDT)

Edmund Rice [9 April 2010]

I see you added parents to the page of Edmund Rice but did not add any sources justifying this. The page has (and had) a long discussion explaining all the work that has been done by renowned genealogists (including searching parishes of Sudbury, England) trying to determine the parentage of Edmund Rice and gives their conclusion that the parentage is still unknown. I would be thrilled to think this long mystery has been solved, but asserting a fact is not the same as proving it. Could you please add your proof of his parentage for the benefit of all of us watching this page? --Jrich 17:51, 8 April 2010 (EDT)

I had a note referring to The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-1633. Vol. 1-3. Boston, MA, USA: New England Historic Genealogical Society, 1995. I checked and Edmund's parents are nowhere to be found. I removed the alleged parents. Sorry.--Davidlyonwilson 23:54, 8 April 2010 (EDT)
