It appears to me, from the year range of birth, Samuel Frazier of Mason Co Va was the son of John Frazier, son of John Frazier and Isabella Moody, and Jennet Gay, daughter of Henry Gay and Martha Baxter, and not Samuel C. Frazier, son of Samuel Frazier. However, Ann Allen was born about 1845, per Allen researchers and she would have been much older than any of the Samuel Fraziers other than Samuel, son of John and Isabella.

Not sure about that, unless you can find records to prove it. There are so many Frazier families in the area, I wouldn't take anything for granted unless there were solid records. Plus, I'm not aware of any of the Augusta County Fraziers migrating to Mason County.....--Delijim 19:28, 7 July 2010 (EDT)

Jim: Right now you have Samuel C Frazier, son of Samuel Frazier as moving to Mason Co. That IS an Augusta Co Frazier. I am saying it appears you have the wrong Samuel moving to Mason Co VA.

Ok, I added him based upon the Genforum posts listed on Samuel C. Frazier's page. Since I didn't do the research on him, I can't be sure one way of another. If you have records to the contrary, you might want to add them to Samuel C. Frazier's page for others to follow-up on.

Best regards,

Jim:)--Delijim 09:12, 8 July 2010 (EDT)

James Paul, born 1720-1730, son of William Paul and unknown.

Jim, would this be the James Paul who married Isabella H. Craig Frazier, widow of Samuel Frazier?--Csb5100 16:43, 15 October 2010 (EDT)

Thomas Pugh [14 October 2010]

Hi:) I added some information to John Frazier's page regarding the skirmish at Defeated Creek and Thomas Pugh, but based upon the accounts I found it didn't indicate that Thomas Pugh had been killed there. It indicated that four were wounded, but none killed. Do you have a source for the information regarding his death?

Thanks and keep digging:)

Jim--Delijim 09:45, 14 October 2010 (EDT) Jim: I have looked and cannot find my source for Thomas Pugh's death. Please remove the portion regarding his being killed until I can find where I got that information. Thanks, Cathy

OK, I think I found another source for Thomas Pugh (referred to as "Col. Thomas Pugh) being a son of Thomas Pugh, Sr. (Don't see a son Nathan, though.... )

It looks like this may be the same person, your thoughts?

-Jim:) I don't think it is. My notes are years old, but I have a Pugh family in Virginia, married into the Hall family. The Fraziers were also related to the Halls by the 1850's and were neighbors in Ohio. The NC Pughs were, I believe, Quakers.

OK, I'll defer to you on this, I don't have enough info on the Pugh's in my files...

Thanks,

Jim:)

Fraziers of Augusta County, VA [28 April 2021]

The Chancery Court records for Augusta County are digitized and available through the Virginia Memory Project at the Library of Virginia.

I've been blogging about the details within those records. There are some stunning revelations!

Fraziers of Augusta County, VA [28 May 2021]

The Chancery Court Records of Augusta County, VA, reveal that there are many mistakes in the Frazier genealogy! I have written several blogs about these records and what they reveal. The big surprise: Samuel Craig Frazier died in 1813 in Augusta Co, VA, leaving one illegitimate son, Benjamin Franklin Frazer, who died in Tippecanoe Co, IN. The Samuel in Mason Co, WV, is NOT the son of Samuel Frazier and Isabella Helena Craig. And the maybe even BIGGER surprise--Isabella Helena is NOT a Craig. According to chancery court complaints, her brother was James FRAIZER, son of Samuel Frazier of Christian's Creek.

I swear, I am not making any of this up. It comes directly from these primary source documents made by our ancestors about themselves!

My articles can be found at dannmnortongenealogy.wordpress.com.

I hope to hear from you soon.
