went home and came back in the Speedwell, July 1656, aged 40; and
was the person whose d. is ment. 26 May 1657. It has caus. some
confus. and much uncert. that the John of Dedham and he of Boston,
both tailors, should both have gone home so near. in the same yr. both
die near the same time, but one [which?] return. to die on our side of the
water; yet it may be overcome by aid of the wills. In that ship, at that
time, came the first Quakers to our country. JOHN, Ipswich, s. of
Joseph first of the same, by w. Dinah had Elizabeth b. 29 Mar. 1657, d. at
2 yrs.; and Mary, 15 Jan. 1661, wh. m. perhaps, John Shattuck; and
d. 1697, leav. wid. Dinah. He was town clk. of Groton. JOHN, Watertown,
sec. s. of sec. Joseph, went early to Lancaster, there m. Ann, d. of
John Smith, had Lydia, b. 6 Apr. 1660; and John, 7 Apr. 1660 wh. d.
soon, as did also his w. He ret. to Watertown, and m. 27 Apr. 1666,
Abigail, youngest d. of first Isaac Stearns, had John b. 10 May 1667, d.
soon; James, 25, Nov. 1668; John, again, 15 Mar. 1670; Joseph, 25
Aug. 1671; Abigail, 23 Dec. 1673, d. few wks.; Abigail, again, 6
Aug. 1677, of wh. Dr. Bond says she m. John Parkhurst, liv.
about 70 yrs. and had s. and ds.; Isaac, 5 Jan. 1679, d. at 15
yrs.; Samuel, 21 June 1682, d. prob. bef. 20 yrs.; and Nathaniel,
bapt. 29 Jan. 1688; was deac. 1697. His w. d. 16 Oct. 1690, and
a third w. was Sarah. He d. 23 or 28 July 1702. JOHN, Boston, s.
of the first John, by w. Elizabeth d. of Zaccheus Bosworth, had Elizabeth b. 22
Jan. 1661; Ruth, 18 Dec. 1662, d. at 18 mos.; Hannah, Feb. 1665;
Abigail, 30 Mar. 1667; Ruth, again, 13. Jan. 1669; Bethia, 13 or 15
Jan. 1671 John, 28 Aug. 1673; Samuel, 13 Nov. 1676, prob. d. soon;
and Sarah, 24 Nov. 1677. He was freem. 1669, serv. as a commissary
in Philip's war, and d. says the Genealog. 25 Oct. 1678, but in the Appendix
makes erron. that event on the same day of next yr. leav. wid. Elizabeth
who applied to governm. for compensat. on acco. of his serv. JONATHAN,
Sherborn, s. of Daniel the first, m. 8 Sept. 1666, Mary Barber, perhaps
d. of George, wh. d. 1700, had Jonathan, b. 11 July, 1667; Mary, Aug.
1670; Nathan, 3 Jan. 1673; Samuel, 10 Aug. 1676; Lydia, 9 May
1682; Elizabeth 10 Dec. 1684; and Ebenezer, 26 Sept. 1689; liv. at Medfield,
was freem. 1677 or 72, and d. 30 Aug. 1727. JONATHAN, Watertown,
s. of the sec. Joseph, m. 17 Oct. 1678, Abigail, youngest d. of
William Shattuck the first, had Abigail, b. or 15 Dec. 1679; Hannah,
3 Sept. or Dec. 1682, Ruth, 15 Apr. 1684; and Jonathan, 23 Jan.
posthum. for his f. d. 31 July preced. perhaps at Groton, where he
was freem. 1672, of whose proprs. he was clk. JONATHAN,
Newbury, s. of William of the same, m. 3 1671, Mary Clark,
rem. to Beverly, there had bapt. Jonathan, Nov. 1673, Mary,
bapt. at N. 4 June 1676; and Jonathan, bapt. at N. 29 June 1681;
was aft. of Middleborough, and one of the found. of first ch. there; a.
July 1709. JOSEPH, Ipswich 1642, prob. from Co. Suffolk, Eng. had
Dorothy, and s. Joseph and John, of wh. one, if not both, came over
bef. him, and d. Hannah, made his will 24 Apr. 1646, and d. Sept. foll.
