w. d. 24 Apr. 1676, aged 41, and he m. 21 June 1677, Rebecca Russell,
and d. 1 Mar. 1689. WILLIAM, Boston 1686. He was surety in a
bond with Nathaniel Peck, for sav. harmless, E. Randolph, the Secr. of
the royal governm. in giv. a license for P. to be m. a very curious docum.

    COGSWELL, EDWARD, perhaps of Ipswich, s. of John, b. in Eng. d.
a. 1700, leav. William, Jonathan, John, Adam, and four ds. JOHN, Ipswich,
came from Bristol, 1635, in the Angel Gabriel, wreck. 15 Aug.
at Pemaquid, freem. 3 Mar. 1636, and d. 29 Nov. 1669. His wid. d. 2
June 1676. He brot. William, b. a. 1619; John, 1623; and Edward,
1629; had also ds. Mary, perhaps that maid serv. of Gov. Bellingham,
that join. the Boston ch. 29 Aug. 1647; Hannah; Abigail; and Sarah,
b. a. 1647, wh. m. Simon Tuttle. The other ds. m. but of details I am
ign. and prob. sev. of these ch. were not by w. Elizabeth JOHN, perhaps of
Ipswich, s. of the preced. d. 1653, leav. three ch. JOHN, Ipswich, s. of
William, by w. Elizabeth had John, and William, perhaps, also, a d. that m.
Cornelius Waldo, unless this w. of W. were d. of the first John, as seems
more likely. JONATHAN, Ipswich, s. of Edward or of William, m. 14
May 1686, Elizabeth d. of Francis Wainwright. ROBERT, New Haven
1643, rem. soon. SAMUEL, Saybrook, m. 2? Oct. 1668, Susanna Hearn,
had Hannah, b. 4 June 1670; Susanna, 23 Nov. 1672; Wastall (or
some happier name), 17 Feb. 1674; Samuel, 3 Aug. 1677; Robert, 7
July 1679; Joseph, 10 Apr. 1682; Nathaniel, 16 Dec. 1684; and
John, 7 Aug. 1688. WILLIAM, Ipswich 1646, s. of the first John, b. in
Eng. had, beside others, Jonathan; and John, a 1650, gr.-gr.f. of the
late Rev. Dr. William C. (wh. began the publicat. of the Geneal. Reg.)

    COIT or COYTE, JOHN, Salem 1638, was a shipwright, had w. Mary,
rem. 1644, to Gloucester, there was selectman 1618, and to New London
1651, there d. 25 Aug. 1659, leav. John, Joseph, Mary, wh. m. John
Stevens, and Martha, wh. m. first, Hugh Mould, and next, Nathaniel
White of Middletown, beside ano. s. and two ds. refer. to in his will.
His wid. d. 2 Jan. 1676, aged 80. JOHN, Gloucester, s. of the preced.
perhaps b. in Eng. m. 21 May 1652, Mary, d. of William Stevens, had
John, b. 1653; Mary, 1655; Abigail, b. 3 Apr. 1657; and Nathaniel,
13 Apr. 1659; beside Job, 1661; and d. 15 Apr. 1675, Babson thinks,
it was sev. yrs earlier, and that his wid. m. 3 Oct.1667, John Fitch.
