that in 1679 he was chos. clk. of the writs, i. e. town clk. OBADIAH,
New Haven 1640. PETER, Hingham, youngest s. of Thomas the first,
m. Ju]y 1679, Ann Canterbury, d. of Cornelius, had Cornelius, b. 24
Aug. 1684, d. young; and John, 10 Dec. 1685. RICHARD, Marlborough,
had come in the Jonathan, 1639, with his mo. Agnes (wh. was
then w. of Thomas Blanchard), and her mo. Agnes Bent, and the gr.mo.
the mo. and a younger ch. d. on the voyage, so that he was some yrs.
under care of his uncle John Bent, and was put apprent. to said Blanchard,
when Barnes was only ten yrs. old, wh. also bec. his guardian. After
d. of Blanchard, May 1654, John Grout of Sudbury was made
guardian; and for part of this early hist. see Geneal. Reg. IX. 371. He
m. 16 Dec. 1667, perhaps as sec. w. wid. Deborah Dix, but all inq.
wh. was her first h. is baffled, neither the diligence of Bond, nor the skill
of Dr. Harris being adequate to solve it. Yet the list of ch. accepted,
from Barry by Bond, seems hardly to consist with the prior list of ch. she
had b. Leonard, John, and William. See Bond, 753. However some
may be adm. as Sarah, b. 1669; Richard, 1673; and Abigail, 1683, wh.
m. 1700, Peter Bent. He d. 22 Jan. 1708. RICHARD, Marlborough, s.
prob. of the preced. m. Ann, youngest d. of the first Jonathan Hide of
Cambridge, but I learn no more. THOMAS, Hingham 1637, freem. 1645,
came with w. Ann from Hingham, O. E. had Thomas, and John, both
bapt. 21 May 1643, of wh. the first d. young; Elizabeth 8 Dec. 1644; Ann;
Hannah, June 1647, d. young; James, 8 Apr. 1649; and Peter, 6 June
1652. Ann m. a Brimsden of Boston. THOMAS, Salem, by w. Mary
had Benjamin, b. 1 Oct. 1655; Thomas, 1657, d. soon; Mary, 12 Oct.
1658, d. at 2 yrs.; and Mary, again, 19 Mar. 1662; and was drown. Dec.
1663. THOMAS, Hartford 1639, had Sarah, wh. m. 29 May 1666, John
Scovil
; rem. to Farmington, had Benjamin, bapt. 24 July 1653; Joseph,
1655, and Thomas, wh. m. Mary, d. of Richard Jones. He took sec. w.
Mary, eldest d.
of John Andrews, had by her that Thomas, beside
Ebenezer, and d. 1688. THOMAS, New Haven 1643, rem. to
Middletown, and d. 1693. He had serv. in the Pequot war, 1637,
and left s. John; Thomas, b. 26 Aug. 1653; Daniel, 29 Aug. 1659, bapt.
1661, on the same day with Abigail, his sis. b. 16 Mar. 1657, but the day
on the rec. of ch. is a false one, 27 June, which was a Thursday; and
Maybee, b. 25 June 1663, as the careful town rec. tells, bapt. not, as the
careless ch. rec. tells, 20 July of that yr. wh. was on Monday; beside three
other ds. of wh. Elizabeth perhaps eldest, was b. 28 May 1650. His w. Mary
d. 1676, and his d. Mercy m. 20 Oct. or Dec. 1666, Bartholomew Jacobs.
THOMAS, Swanzey 1669, was a promin. man in the Bapt. ch. there,
had Elizabeth b. 14 Feb. 1675, and prob. others. THOMAS, Marlborough,
the freem. 1673, wh. pray. for a gr. of Ind. ld. bec. his ho. and goods
had been burn. by the enemy in Philip's war, may be he wh. came from
