    "Thomas Barnes was in Marl. early, and bought land of Jonathan Johnson in 1663, and was then a resident in the place. He d. as appears by his will, in 1679, in which he mentions his wife, Abigail, sons, Thomas, John, and William, and dau. Dorothy, Abigail, and Susan. Thomas Barnes came to the country in the Speedwell, in May, 1656, in company with Shadrack Hapgood, John Fay, Nathaniel Goodnow, and Thomas Goodnow, whose daughter Abigail he married [Unlikely since Abigail was born 1642 in Sudbury]. He was 20 years of age when he came to this country."

    Will of "Thomas Barnes of Marlborough ... being weak in body", dated 15 Feb 1678/79, proved "17:4:79" [17 Jun 1679], names wife Abigail; son Thomas [under 21]; son William; son John [under 21]; three daughters Dorothie, Abigail, and Susan. Wife Abigail and brother John Barns to be executors, friend Solomon Johnson Sen'r and Unckle Lieuten't John [Rudduck?] to be overseers.
    Undated, but attested to "17.4.79": Inventory of Thomas Barns deceased late of Marlborough: £125.12.04, plus small amounts of debts owed to and from.
