Tibberton is located 5 miles (8.0 km) from Gloucester and 5 miles from Newent. The current population of Tibberton is approximately 650. Tibberton is a parish of 1,406 acres (5.69 km2) in an area with 248 households.

From 1894 until 1974 Tibberton was in Newent Rural District. Since 1974 it has been part of the Forest of Dean District.
