Township of Reno

Reno is a civil township situated in the southwestern corner of the county of Leavenworth, state of Kansas, United States of America. It is bounded on the north by the township of Tonganoxie, on the east by the townships of Stranger and Sherman, on the south and west by the county of Douglas (including the townships of Eudora, Wakaresa, and Grant), and on the west by the county of Jefferson (including the township of Sarcoxie). The Kansas river forms the southern boundary.

History

Reno was organized by petition to the county board on 1 February 1869. It was named after General J.L. Reno. The new civil township encompassed parts of townships 11, 12 and 13 south, of ranges 21 and 22 east of the Sixth Principal Meridian. It was taken from the south end of the township of Tonganoxie.
