A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Prendwick from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:

"PRENDWICK, a township in Alnham parish, Northumberland; 8½ miles N N E of Rothbury. Acres: 1,612. Population: 87. Houses: 11."

Prendwick was a township in the ancient parish of Alnham and became a separate civil parish in 1866. From 1894 it was part of Rothbury Rural District. In 1955 the civil parish was abolished and the area was absorbed back into the parish of Alnham.
