Menston (#18 on the map) was a village and civil parish located in Wharfedale Rural District from 1894 until 1937. In 1937 it was merged with Esholt (#10), Guiseley and Hawksworth in Guiseley (#14) to become the Aireborough Urban District. Most of Aireborough Urban District became part of the City of Bradford in West Yorkshire, England in 1974, but along with Burley in Wharfedale, the northeastern part of Menston was merged into the Leeds City Council area. As of the 2011 UK Census the parish had a population of 4,498.

Menston (sometime spelled Menstone) lies on the A65 road, approximately ten miles northwest of the centre of Leeds and 9 miles north of Bradford centre, between Guiseley and Burley in Wharfedale. Menston also has a railway station between Guiseley and Burley on the Wharfedale Line, with direct trains to Leeds, Bradford Forster Square and Ilkley.

Historically, it was located in the ecclesiastical parish of Otley in the Skyrack Wapentake.

Menston's Anglican parish church is dedicated to St John the Divine, and is part of the Diocese of Leeds. Other notable buildings include the former High Royds Hospital and St. Mary's Menston Catholic Academy, both of which are in the Leeds part of Menston. The site of High Royds Hospital, was originally the West Riding Pauper Lunatic Asylum. (High Royds was a hamlet within Menston.)
