For a definition of "wapentake", see the article entitled Hundred (county division) in Wikipedia.

Wapentakes, the Old Norse form of the Anglo-Saxon "hundred", are dealt with in Section 1.4, but Sections 1.1 (Hundred courts) and 1.2 (Administrative functions) deal with the concept and purposes of wapentakes along with those of "hundreds" used in English counties further south.

Skyrack (#7 on the map) was a wapentake of the West Riding of Yorkshire, England.. The Skyrack wapentake derives its name from a large oak that grew for centuries in Headingley. It is believed that the word "skyrack" comes from the Old English phrase - 'Scir ac' meaning "Shire Oak" under which meetings were held. The tree finally collapsed in 1941. There is a plaque to commemorate it on the outside of the garden wall of the Original Oak pub. It also gives its name to the Skyrack pub in Headingley opposite the Original Oak.

It was split into Upper and Lower Divisions and centred in Headingley in Leeds.
