Marion County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina. As of 2000, the population was 35,466. The 2005 Census Estimate placed the population at 34,904 [1]. Its county seat is Marion6. It is named for Francis Marion, a Brigadier General from South Carolina in the American Revolutionary War.
