Lightwater is a village in the Surrey Heath District of Surrey, England, about 27 miles (43 km) south-west of central London. Surrounding towns and villages include Bagshot, Windlesham, Deepcut, Camberley, and West End. It is bounded to the north-west by the M3 motorway and to the north-east by the Lightwater bypass. To the south-east it is bounded by the Red Road, while to the south-west there are vehicle-testing tracks owned by the Ministry of Defence.

Lightwater is a village in the civil parish of Windlesham. Between 1894 and 1909 the civil parish was part of Chertsey Rural District. In 1909 Windlesham became an urban district, but in 1933, when Chertsey Rural District was abolished, Windlesham lost its urban district status and became part of the newly organized Bagshot Rural District.
