Bengeo is a parish immediately north of Hertford. The parish was split into Bengeo Urban and Bengeo Rural in the 1890s. Bengeo Urban (which included the village of Bengeo) was absorbed into the town of Hertford in 1900. Bengeo Rural remains a separate parish. The main settlement in Bengeo Rural is Tonwell.
