Third wife: two Sarahs [18 March 2009]

In Source:The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, p. 156:327, Robert Charles Anderson in an article entitled English Origin of Edward Garfield of Watertown, Mass., suggests that George m. (1) Sarah Browne, m. (2) Sarah Garfield. [Because of the focus of the article, his third wife Mary Veazy/Pheza is not mentioned nor discussed.] The primary evidence is that probate documents of Abraham Browne only mentioned the grandson John Parkhurst, and Edward Garfield mentioned an otherwise unidentified granddaughter Sarah Parkhurst, suggesting these two children of George Parkhurst had different mothers. It would be very plausible that later researchers could accidentally coalesce two consecutive wives named Sarah into one. --Jrich 11:07, 18 March 2009 (EDT)
