Anthony Black - misplaced [26 August 2016]

According to two FGS I received from Natalie Black, author of Pioneer Preacher, Anthony BLACK Sr (will proved 19 Aug 1761) was the brother of Rev. Samuel BLACK of Albemarle Co VA. Anthony's wife was Elizabeth who died after his death. The following items from Chalkley probably pertain to him:

1724 – Anthony Black on Capt John Christian’s list of the muster roll for Augusta Co VA; also Thos Black, Jas Black, Jno Black [C v2, p 508]

22-3 Jun 1743 – Anthony Black farmer of Orange County leased 134 acres in Beverly Manor from James Robertson [C]

10 Oct 1759 – Anthony Black purchased 115 acres on Middle River from Alexander Gibson and Mary. [C]

19 Aug 1761 – Elizabeth Black’s bond w/ James Black, Saml Craig, as administratrix of Anthony Black [C v3, p 65]

21 Aug 1771 – Samuel Craig guardian of John Black, orphan of Anthony Black [C v3, p 120]

17 Mar 1773 – Samuel Craig’s account of John Black, orphan of Anthony Black: James Black’s payments for use of orphans [C v3, p 128]

The chart gives 8 children for Anthony and Elizabeth (dates as shown on chart):

i. Jean - bp. 25-3-1744

ii. Anthony Jr - bp. 24-8-1746; m. Catherine TORBET

iii. Sarah 'Sally' - bp. 25-9-1748

iv. Margaret

v. Elinor - m. William SHIELDS

vi. William of So. River - m. Margaret KENNEDY

vii. John

viii. Rachel - m. William COALTER

The will dated 17 Jul 1808, was for the son John per Chalkley [C v3 p232] "brother William, sister Peggy, sister Sally, brother Anthony’s five sons John, Hugh, William, Samuel, James, sister Eleanor Shields two sons Robert and Thomas Shields, executor brother Anthony, testator Samuel Black; proved 26 Sep 1808."

I hesitate to spend the time entering everything unless others agree. --KayS 02:15, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
