Colonel Zackquill Morgan, son of Morgan Morgan, received a legal certificate for 400 acres of land in the Morgantown area in 1781. In October 1785, at Colonel Morgan's request, the Virginia General Assembly specified that 50 acres of his land was to be laid out in lots, and a town, named Morgantown, established on the site. Thomas and Edward died in Philip's life time; Edward left two children, viz: Levi and Elizabeth. Levi in life time of Philip, the grandfather, and after death of Edward the father, received an advancement from Philip; Elizabeth, Jemima and Rachel are children and heirs of Thomas Pindell, son of Philip; Elizabeth, Jemima and Rachel are infants.   • Vol. 2 - Morgan vs. Stealey--O. S. 82; N. S. 28--Bill in Monongalia, January, 1802. Orator, Levi Morgan. Defendants are viz: Morgan, James, Uriah, Lodock, Horatio, Zackquill, Sarah, Hannah, Drusilla, and Rachel Morgan, William Stevenson and Anne, late Morgan, James Cochran and Temperance, his wife, late Morgan, Jacob Scott and Catherine, late Morgan, children, heirs, and legal representatives of Zackquill Morgan, Robert Minnis and John Stealey. Zackquil Morgan, Sr., laid off town of Morgantown. Orator took a trip to New Orleans and was believed to be dead when his father sold the lot in Morgantown in controversy. Defendant Stealey came to reside in Monongalia in 1787. Deed by Robert Minnis of Monongolia to John Stealey of Monongalia, dated September, 1800; proved at Monongalia District Court, September, 1800. Benj. Reeder deposes; mentions Major Jno. Williams and his son, Isaac. Catherine Evans deposes. Her husband, Thomas Evans. Noah Linsley deposes. Levi Morgan from 1787 to 1795 was generally in service when the Indians were troublesome. John Davis deposes he has lived in Morgantown since 1787.
  • Vol. 2 - Rebeckah Wilson vs. Benj. Wilson and Eleanor, his wife--O. S. 123; N. S. 43--Bill 3d December, 1807--About 1789 James Wilson conveyed to oratrix land in Monongalia, the deed being destroyed when the records of Monongalia were destroyed. James afterwards conveyed to defendants who have brought ejectment against complainant, who is widow of William Wilson, deceased, who was brother of James Wilson. Eleanor is daughter of William by his first wife. William died in 1806 testate. Ann Skinner Wilson is sister and William Lanham is married to a sister of Rebeckah. James Wilson answers and denies having made a deed to Rebeckah, but did make deed to William. Will of William Wilson of Monongalia County, dated 2d January, 1807. Wife Rebeckah; sons Stephen, George, Josiah, Abraham; daughters Basha Williams, Jinny Wilson, Rebeckah, Harriot, Ruth Devine, Nancy, Elinor; brother Josiah Wilson.   • Vol. 2 - Savage vs. Eyre--O. S. 206; N. S. r3-Answer filed 1804, says about 40 years ago Robert Lyre married Ann Price, daughter of John Price, who lived in Chester County, Pennsylvania, and about eleven years thereafter removed to Virginia. On 12th September, 1770, John Price made his will. Elisha and Samuel Price were brother and uncle of Ann. Robert had (at least) two children, John and Hanna; also sons, Robert and Adam. Will of John Price of Lower Chichester, Chester County, Pennsylvania: Wife Elizabeth; daughter Ann, wife of Robert Eyre; son Samuel; daughter Hannah Price; daughter Sarah Price, infant; son John, infant; daughter Elizabeth; sister Sarah Price. Dated 12th December, 1770. Recorded in West Chester. Deed dated 7th April, 1796 between Robert Eyre of Norbon Parish, Berkeley County, yeoman, to Elisha Price of Chester Borough, Counly of Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Samuel Price of Lower Chichester, Pennsylvania, and Ann Eyre, wife of Robert, and Robert Eyre, Jr. 250 acres in Berkeley. Deed dated 18th April, 1796, by Robert Eyre to William Boyd, 277 acres on Mill Creek in Berkeley, conveyed by grantee to grantor on same date. Proved in Berkeley 25th April, 1796. Deed dated 23d June, 1800, by Richard Ridgway, Robert Eyre and Ann and James Stephenson. Mortgage conveys part of 1,000 acres patented to Morgan Morgan 12th November, 1735, and conveyed by Morgan to Zackwell Morgan in 1761, and to Robert Rutherford in 1768, to James Seaton in 1769, to Robert Eyre in 1777. Recorded in Berkeley 24th June, 1800. Deed R8th September, 1801, by Robert Eyre, Sr., to Adam Eyre, part of 742 acres patented by Fairfax to James Crumbley, Ist February, 1754, conveyed by Henry and William Crumbley, sons of James, to Robert Rutherford, 25th October, 1766; by him to Richard Colvert, 8th February, 1768; by him to Wm.
