Wylie Dugger was born ca 3 Dec 1814 (per Ann Cooper Gay), or ca 1818/1819 per his age on the 1850 census (31). He was born somewhere in Tennessee, same source.

His parents are unidentified, but he lived in Giles Co., TN and married in Maury Co., TN so that gives some clues. Robert C. Davis theorized that he is a son of James Dugger and Ann Stanley and he may be right. He based that on the fact that James' other son (Lee Marion, also unproven) went to Texas also, and that Wylie named two of his sons "Lee" (as middle names). Not conclusive, but compelling.

Wylie is listed on the 1840 census in Giles Co., TN, but not near any of the other Duggers living there at the time.

His first wife died before 9 Dec 1844, for on that date he married Rachel Farris in Maury Co., TN.

They were listed on the 1850 census back in Giles County.

They moved to Texas after 1850.
