The father of Apollonia was Wolfgang Käffer who seems to have originated in the region of Ansbach, some distance to the east. Apparently he lived in Zaberfeld, Kreis Heilbronn, Württemburg for a brother of Apollonia, Jerg Niclas Käffer was born there 20 Jul 1701. Wolfgang died on 8 Aug 1728 in Zaberfeld. His wife was Elisabetha.

Generation 1 Wolfgang Kaefer (Reference # 1540 & 1548 & 1588 & 1596) was from the Ansbach region of Mittelfranken, Germany and died 8 August 1728 at Zaberfeld, Wuerttemberg, Germany where he was buried 9 August 1728. His occupation was that of goose herdsman. He married Elisabetha, surname unknown (Reference # 1541 & 1549 & 1589 & 1597). Further information about Elisabetha is unknown. They had the following children:

Maria Apollonia Kaefer b. c1690 in the Ansbach region of Mittelfranken, Germany m. 6 May 1714 to Hans Nicolaus Blanckenbuhler (c2 January 1681/2-1743) at Neuenburg, Baden, Germany and had the following children: Maria Barbara Blanckenbuhler (22 December 1714-); Zacharias Blanckenbuhler (21 October 1715-); Jacob Blanckenbuhler; Michael Blanchenbuhler; Ursula Blanckenbuhler; Dorothea Blanckenbuhler; and Elizabeth Blanckenbuhler Maria Apollonia Kaefer and her husband Hans Nicolaus Blanckenbuhler (aka Nicholas Blankenbaker) were members of the 1717 Colony at Germanna.
