William went to McKees Creek, near Gad, WV in 1870 where he married Margaret Elizabeth Hart sometime after the 1870 census. In 1881 he bought 200 acres from Isaac Hart (Margaret's father perhaps?). 3 years later n 1884 he bought 100 more from a George Brown. Supposedly, much of the land is now under water at the Summersville Dam.

William and Margaret had 7 children.

Around July 1,1863 William registered for the Civil War (Union side) long with his nephew Edward (Charles' son) and two brothers Bing (James Benjamin) and Isaac.

William and Margaret are buried at Keslers Cross Lane Cemetery, Nicholas Co. WV.
