I am unable to find a death of his first wife Clara.

    I found the marriage of a William Scorgie,22 who married Mary E E Rain,23 d/o Robert Rain and Mary Wheeler, I think this is the right one as the parents are according to her marriage to Peter Moffat, they married, 6 Mar 1845 (sic). Both born in Darlington Wm Scorgie and his wife Mary Elizabeth Ramm had three children. William Harold-- 12 jul 1895 Gordon Nealy 18 jan 1899 Albert George 19 may 1897 A gordon H ? died at age 7 weeks ? William Scorgie Farmer, born 21 May 1872, aged 37 ,died 7 Feb 1910, an accident A William Harold, born in Oshawa, 23, s/f Wm Scorgie and Elizabeth Rohn married Myrtle Iva Reid 19 of South Monaghan , d/o Wm D Reid and Leticia M O'Hare on 25 Feb 1920.

    I suspect year of marriage for William and Mary is 1895, not 1845.
