From Chalkley’s Augusta County Records:
- Page 423.--19th October, 1747. £50. John Fewbaker to Abraham Fewbaker, 2 parcels of land on Shanando River, 300 acres adjoining Jacob Nahale, 200 acres adjoining Jacob Nahale. Teste: Samuel Newman, Wm. Scholl, Mathias Selzer. Proved by Scholl and Selzer, 18th November, 1747. (Mote: this William Scholl would have been abt. 16 years old in 1747, making this record problematic, as he normally would have had to be an adult to witness a deed during that time. One possibility that may exist is that perhaps this deed was actually witnessed by William's father Peter, who did witness many deeds and provide surety in early Augusta County, and this record may have been mis-transcribed, but the original deed may need to be inspected. May need additional research).
- Vol. 1 - NOVEMBER 15, 1752. - (363) William Scholl, qualified Captain; James Simpson, qualified Captain; John Smith, qualified Major of Foot and Coroner; Humphrey Madison qualified Under Sheriff.
