William Palmer was born on 10th August 1787 and baptised two days later at Glapthorn in Northamptonshire. He was the eldest son of Jane Palmer, formerly Cannam, and her husband John Swan Palmer, a carpenter. It seems that William died young; his parents had another son named William baptised in 1790. However, no burial for a William Palmer is listed at Glapthorn in either the Parish Registers or the Bishop's Transcripts between 1787 and 1790.
