He was said to come from Preston County, but on the 1850 Preston Co., WV Census he was listed as 6 months old, born in Maryland. When he's 50 years old, on the 1900 census, he says he was born in WV - but doesn't know even the month; so I'll stick with his parent's record in the 1850 Census.
