There is a discrepancy as to William's father's name. The rough copy version of the Parish Register and the Bishop's Transcript both give his father's name as Josiah, but the fair copy of the Parish Register gives his father's name as Joseph.

See discussion of William's parents' names on the family page. There was also a William Marshall son of Simon and Sarah baptised six days after this burial - who is therefore assumed to be a younger brother named after this William, although it is possible the baptism and burial in June 1730 are the same child but the dates have been transposed.
