[edit] Records of William MarshallIt is unclear if the William Marshall that married Jane Stewart ever came to America. Based upon the will of Jane Stewart's brother, William Stewart who died prior to 18 Nov. 1768 in Augusta County, Virginia, it appears that William Marshall had died prior to the writing of William Stewart's will (as shown below) , and since William left the "land and chattels" located in the town of Raffrey (which is located in County Down, Northern Ireland), it appears that Jane stayed in Northern Ireland. There is another William Marshall that married Catherine Rutledge in early Augusta County that appears to be the William Marshall that lived on "Beverley Manor", but records regarding this William Marshall are not apparent in Chalkley's, which seems to support the theory that this William Marshall had died in Northern Ireland prior to 1768. No information has yet been found of any children of their marriage. More research is needed on this family.
