William Gilmore, born ca 1774, Mecklenburg Co., NC, died 1818, Montgomery Co., Ky second son of Patrick Gilmore, Rev War Soldier, married Martha Curry ca 1797 in Mecklenburg, Co NC. They had two known children, Martha (Patsey), who married Richard Wise in Mt Sterling, KyMar 29, 1821, and William. William is buried, along with his sister, and his mother in the Wise Cemetery in Callaway Co., Mo.

DAR Patriot Index: Patrick served in the Illinois Regiment of theAmerican Revolution from Virginia in the Company of Captain JohnKennedy of Militia for Kentucky County under the command of ColonelGeorge Rogers Clark, ordered into service by Colonel John Bowman from6 July to 20 Aug 1780, they joined in an expedition against theIndians. Patrick was also cited in North Carolina for furnishingitems and moneys to support the militia of North Carolina. Patrick'stombstone says: Patrick Gilmore KY CO MILITIA ILL REGT REVOLUTIONARY WAR 1753 1824 " record of Patrick Gilmore's military services, state of NC, Dept. ofArchives and History: 'for sundries furnished and cash paid the militia claims as Halifax,NC.
