William Ewington was baptised on 27th September 1748 at Codicote in Hertfordshire, son of William and Mary Ewington.

On 9th September 1769 he married a widow called Ann Dew, formerly Males, who was about two years older than him. She already had a son from her first marriage. William and Ann went on to have another eight children baptised at Codicote between 1770 and 1789, although one died as a baby and one died aged eleven.

William worked as a tailor. He died at the age of 62, being buried at Codicote on 24th March 1811. Ann survived him by nearly twenty years.

    This baptism has been linked to the William Ewington who married Ann Males on the basis that it is around the time implied by the age given when he died and in the same parish in which they married and had their children. Some of their children's also describe him as William Ewington junior, presumably to distinguish him from his father.
