(9.) William J. Cupp, b. ca. 1830, Montgomery County, d. between 14 Mar 1859 &
abt. 1865 in Augusta County, married Mary Jane Shirey d/o John Shirey & Matilda
Simmons, abt. 1853, probably in Augusta County. Mary Jane married 2nd William's
oldest brother Henry Cupp. Mary Jane was probably the Mary Shirey (servant or
domestic help?) who lived 1850 in the household of William's Uncle Daniel
Whitmore. (See 5. Samuel Cupp above.) William sold his share of his father
Jacob's land on 14 Mar 1859 to Anderson Cupp, s/o James, for a saddle and
twenty-five dollars. (See (1) Henry Cupp for more information on Mary Jane.)
