Information from “Virginia/West Virginia Genealogical Data from Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Records”, Vol. X, compiled by Patrick G. Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret. :

Christian, William - entered service 1776 in Augusta County, Virginia; Pensioned at age 71 in Montgomery County, Virginia in 1821 where he resided over 25 years; moved to Ross County, Ohio, 1831 & died there 1/14/33; married Fall of 1792 (Marriage Bond dated 11/7/92) Mary, daughter of Thomas Ally/Alley at her father's home, Montgomery County, Virginia; widow Pensioned age 75 in Ross County, Ohio, 1848 & resided there at age 88 when granted Pension increase & bounty land warrant 1857; children's births: Susanna 4/5/1795, Allen 6/29/99, Margaret 4/25/1800, John 9/25/03, Mary 5/15/05, Gordan 11/10/08 & Thomas 1812. R-540.

  • Page 155.--13th September, 1790. John Brooks' will--To wife, Martha. £20 a year to be paid by Samuel Brooks; to daughter, Elizabeth; to son, John (when he demands it); to son, Giles; to son, William; to son, Jonathan; to daughter, Sarah; to son-in-law, William Christian; to Samuel, executor, all lands except 9 poles square where there are three walnut trees grow out of one Root towards Ruddle where I desire to be buried and any friend that chooses. Teste: Daniel Rea, William Davis, Andrew Hunter, Jno. Davis. Proved, April Court, 1795, by William Davis and Hunter, executor qualifies. (Note: William Christian's first wife Sarah Brooks must have died shortly after the writing of her father's will, since he had re-married to Mary Alley by November 1792).
