 According to message on Ancestry.com Message board, William Bowen was born 1827 in Nicholas Co, Kentucky and died 1899. He married Sarah Jane Shankland (1832-1912) and had 4 (surviving) children: James D., 1854-  m. Josephine Nokes; Franklin (1856-1928) m. Charlotte Wilson, m2.   "At least three of this family [Andrew Gibbs Shankland] raised their families in Brown County. Sarah Jane who married William Bowen had three boys and one girl.  Amy married Arnie Mullen. Their children were: Mattie (Trumbold);Orville (Martha McPhail); Oral (Nina Meservey); Roy (Lisa Marshall); Ralph (Ruth Heathman); Lillian (Alvoid Edmondson); andJenny ( ). None of this family resides in the county. 
 James D. married Josephine Nokes. Their children were Bertha (died at the age of 19), Nova Marshall, Burel, and Richard Seldon (Ted). None are residents of the county.  
 E. Franklin's first wife was Carolyn Wilson. They had one daughter Sylvia (Whitesides). His second wife was Ella J. Mullen. Their children were William Harvey (Maude Shoopman); Earl (Mary Bauch Straus); Mertie (Cabbott); Edith (Harwood); and Daisy (White).
