BIRTH: G.J. Binns gives 1788 as date of birth (gen. chart). This is expanded in Appendix E of his document to give the date as 27th June, 1788.

DEATH: Same source gives 1808 as date of death (gen. chart). This is expanded in Appendix E of his document to give two dates differing by five months (!) -27th June, 1808 at the age of 19 1/2 years (his statement) and 27 of 1st mo. 1808 (quoting Jonathan Binns - the father). Comparing stated age at death with his birth date, the latter appears to be the correct one - the error arising from the obvious haste in preparing Appendix E which starts "At the last moment, I find.........."

AUTHOR: 1807 - MSS "Observations on a Tour through Durham, Yorkshire and Lancashire" (extends to about 10,000 words - now in Lancaster Public Library).

CONFLICT: Leicester and G.J. Binns are agreed over death year, but J.J Binns (Sunderland) differs by 32 years (!) quoting 25 Jan 1840. Place of death indecipherable, but does not appear to be (Darl)ington. This is corrected in "A Lancaster Literary Family" where the 1808 date is confirmed.
