Facts and Events
Name William Bolling Asbury
Gender Male
Birth[1] 20 Jan 1755 Stafford, Virginia, United States

William Bolling Asbury was called William Asbury, Sr. in the records of Russel and Tazewell Counties from 1798 on to distinguish him from his nephew, William Asbury, Jr., son of George. He appears constantly in the personal tax lists, always with only one tithable, from 1782-1787 in Washington County, Virginia, from 1788-1800 in Russel County, Virginia, and from 1801-1805 in Tazewell County, Virginia (which was formed from Russel County). He owned 130 acres in Washington County in 1782 which he is recorded as owning in Russel county up to 1789. On 28 March 1788 William Garrison deeded William Asbury 96 and 1/2 acres in Russel County and he seems to have disposed of his other land soon afterwards. On 22 July 1805 William Asbury of Tazewell County sold the 96 and 1/2 acres to Jared Bowling (Bolling), probably a kinsman. This is the last record of William Bolling Asbury in Tazewell County, Virginia.[1]
