    (2) George Valentine,(like a lot of immigrants to America),altered and/or changed their names due to various reasons.George became known as Valentine BUTCHER of Augusta Co VA about 1755. His sons,(except Henry) also took the name BUTCHER as they lived & moved from place to place. His 2 daughters were married as METZGERS.Many documents can be found to support this. Francis M.Butcher has the most complete genealogy file on the METZGER-BUTCHER family and can be found on the "Family Tree Maker" website.(NOTE!!!!--another METZGER family who also changed thier name to" BUTCHER" was an ADAM METZGER,(a Hession soldier who came from Germany about 1772),and migrated to Pike Co.OH.,about 1825.They are NOT related to our George V.METZGER-BUTCHER). (3) Other researchers of the Metzger-Butcher family(Bette Butcher Topp,Don Norman, among others) have futher data in their reports. Another good reference is a 3 book set called "Chalkey,s Chronicals of the Scotch-Irish Settlements in VA" in which the former Judge highlights names, dates, places of Augusta Co VA from court records.Yet one more important report is the church records of the "Peaked Mountain Church of Rockingham Co VA"All these documents can be found on the internet and provide 99% proof about George V.Metzger-Butcher.His death was reported as befor Mar 1773 in Augusta Co VA. (Pendleton Co WV as of 1788 )South Mill Creek/Deer Run area.Presummed to be buried there. (4) In a book titled "History of Pendleton Co.WV",there is a chapter "Certain Extinct Families" (author: Oren Morton) in which the Butcher,s are listed.:Valentine Sr. d-1773.No wife is listed.Children listed are:(1)Nicholas(executor of his estate),(2)Valentine,(believed to be Geo Valentine Metzger-Butcher Jr.(3).Margaret (m: Jacob Pitsenbarger 1792).Also listed are:(A)Elizabeth (m:George Fisher 1794) .(B) Anna (m: Michael Fisher 1803).( Elizabeth & Anna are believed to be children of Nicholas & Susanna Petro).Other notations include::Michael-d.ca 1775 . Pulsor 1773( believe this to be Paulser Butcher, another son of Valentine Sr.)
