Person:Thomas Whitney (33)

It was speculated that he might have been born as late as 1550, and thus could be identical with Thomas Whitney, father of John Whitney, the Immigrant.^[2] However, careful consideration of the will of his father suggests that he was born considerably earlier than originally speculated, and thus, is unlikely to be the same person.^[1]

   Based on the full will of Robert Whitney of Castleton (which was only found after the publication of Ward and Doyle's 2006 article), the author concludes that the bequest to Thomas is more consistent with him being an adult at the time the will was written, and suggests he was born by 1534.
